Dominic Purcell is a Liverpudlian!

Dominic Purcell was born in Liverpool before emigrating with his family to Australia at the age of two.

“I spoke with a Liverpudlian accent until I was six years old and went to school,” he said.

“And there I was mercilessly teased by my Aussie buddies, so I quickly lost the Liverpudlian thing and started to speak like an Australian.”

With his Prison Break role he had to ditch the Australian accent for an American one!

“I was speaking American all day and then I’d get home and speak Australian and I just felt so exhausted by going back and forth that I just decided to speak it all the time. Now I just speak American.”

Amaury Nolasco: "Sucre ends up as a prisoner in Sona"

Amaury Nolasco recently revealed to Prison Break Magazine that his character, Fernando Sucre, will end up behind bars in Sona sometime before the season 3 finale (February 18th). He said: "Sona is still going to remain a very important part of the show. Sucre ends up as a prisoner in Sona. Something inside is going to prove very important to Michael and Lincoln completing their mission. Once again they are going to have to rely on their friend Mr. Fernando Sucre."

This leads to my question, if there is no season 4, is Sona the last place we will see Sucre?

"Whisper" - January 26th 2008

Awhile ago I posted that Sarah Wayne Callies' straight to DVD movie "Whisper" was going to be out in stores shortly. Well now "Whisper" will be airing on TNT on Saturday January 26th at 9:00 pm in the US. Below is the synopsis of the movie:

When the ten-year-old son, David, (Blake Woodruff) of a wealthy New England socialite is abducted, his kidnapper Max Harper (Josh Holloway) and his seedy associates assume it will be a routine kidnapping in exchange for a large ransom. Unknown to the kidnappers, the shy and reserved David actually has a hidden agenda of his own, and a mysterious way of tapping into the minds of others. Soon, Max will wish that he had never kidnapped David, much less even heard of him.

The film also stars Lost's Josh Holloway.

Are the writers messing with us?

I read this over at Prison Break Buff and figured I should definitely post it.

When recapping 3.09, Zap2It.com mentioned that when LJ tells Linc that Gretchen killed Sarah — but then tells him he didn’t see it, he closed his eyes, but he heard it. Please, please, please tell me they’re not setting up some sort of bait-and-switch with the head-in-the-box.

Having not seen 3.09 myself yet, I can't really comment on this, however I honestly think they're using this as an opportunity to tease Sara fans.

Here is a neat vid of Amaury Nolasco aka Fernando Sucre telling us what he gets up to between takes. Not a lot it would seem, except from listening to his iPod constantly. Check it out.

Director's Take

Above is the most recent director's take on season 3. The video includes behind the scenes footage. Check it out!

Knepper: "That’s a great feeling — to affect people that deeply"

New York Entertainment recently spoke with the legend that be, Robert Knepper. He chats about playing T-Bag, driving a car, and the writer’s strike.

So what’s in store for T-Bag for the rest of the season?
Some of my friends have written me and said, “What’s going on with you, man? You had such an explosive first and second season, what’s going on?” I say, “Just wait, just wait. He’s still there.” T-Bag’s been doing the Iago thing for several episodes, lurking in the background, and I think you’re going to see him hop to the front pretty soon. Sorry, I lost my train of thought. I just got this new car. I’m learning how to drive it as I’m trying to talking to you.

Please be careful.
It would be a really good article. You could say, wow, I was interviewing Robert Knepper at the moment that he crashed into a telephone pole.

I really don’t want to do that article.
But you could be famous!

That’s okay. Do people ever get freaked out when they see you out and about?
One time I was at a hotel in Dallas waiting for the elevator, and the doors opened and there was this idyllic, blonde, blue-eyed couple — they looked like they were from, like, Denver. “Rocky Mountain High” should have been playing behind them. She’s kind of cooing in his ear, and she turns as the doors open and sees me and literally swallows a scream. And then she immediately turned beet red because she realized that I was the actor, not the character, obviously. That’s a great feeling — to affect people that deeply. At least they feel something. I just don’t like it when my little boy is bleeding and somebody comes up to me and says, “Do you mind if I get a picture?”

Did that actually happen?
It actually happened. Here in Dallas. We were by the pool, and he stumbled and fell right on his face. This lady came up to me right then, and I could have said, “Fuck off! Look at my kid!” but I was torn. Obviously my allegiance was with my boy. But I just said, “Just give me a minute.” When you’re an actor going from job to job, you start to think, maybe someday I’ll get a huge break and maybe not be a star but I’ll get to the point where I don’t have to struggle so much. And all of a sudden it happened for me — not in my 20s, but in my 40s — and I’m like, “Damn, man. This is so great.” So I’m not going to turn to that person who’s witnessing my kid’s nose bleeding and say, “Fuck off.”

Does it get weird sometimes — playing a total psycho and then going home and being a loving dad?
Well, I have that reentry period of driving home. You get home and it’s, “Papa, let’s play!” It’s the great equalizer. He is my life. I draw on that passion, that love, in a way, to play one of the most demented characters ever. I know it sounds like a dichotomy, but you’ll see: When you have a child, your work will get even better. You’re so focused. You really start to feel like, I would do anything, anything to protect my family. Including kill.

When is he going to be old enough to watch the show?
Oh, I don’t know. 35? No, maybe 12. I’m sure he’s going to be exposed to a lot worse by the time he’s 10. He’s going to look at it and say, “Oh please, Papa was playing a racist pedophile. That’s nothing!”

The writers’ strike interrupted the show mid-season. How’s that been?
Honestly, when the strike first happened, I thought, “Oh, thank God.” I did want a little break. But T-Bag is such a volatile, complex character, and the volatility has to be released so often, on a daily basis. Now, to not have that, it’s been a little bit of an implosion. I think my wife likes me a little more when I’m working.

Even More From Kristin

Ruth from London asked Kristin Dos Santos on E!Online about the latest happenings in Prison Break (sort of). Below are the main points Kristin reveals.

• Michael starts off in solitary but will be running free very soon.
• Not all the escapees will make it out alive.
• Lincoln and Sucre try to off Susan in a very kaboomy way.
• Lincoln meets up with L.J. one last time.
• Lincoln is shot.

Are the writers trying to turn things around and actually make the rest of season 3 the best episodes we have ever seen?

The. Secrets. Are. Revealed.

TVGuide just posted this on their website. The article contains some spoilers for the rest of the season. I highlighted the main parts. Make sure you read it!

Even by Prison Break (Mondays, 8 pm/ET, Fox) standards, the plot twist that brought the fall mini-season to a close in November was a stunner. The seemingly saintly Whistler (Chris Vance), whom Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) had been trying to free from jail since the start of the season, appeared to be in cahoots with mysterious villain Susan (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe). The Whistler bombshell, coupled with the shortage of new programming due to the writers' strike, makes Prison Break's Jan. 14 return all the more enticing. A five-episode run (possibly more if the strike is resolved soon) will give audiences their escapist fix well into February sweeps.

Amaury Nolasco, who plays the loyal Sucre, says this season has offered an entirely different dynamic for him. "I'd never had more than two lines with [Dominic Purcell] the first season," he says. "This year, it's like we have a whole Danny Glover and Mel Gibson thing going on. With Wentworth, I used to say it was like The Odd Couple. With Dom, it's more like Starsky and Hutch." Just a more menacing version: Linc and Sucre plan what Nolasco calls an "explosive" end to Susan.

A lot happens in the next five episodes. Producers insist that, unlike Season 1, viewers won't have to wait until May for the inmates to escape: There will be a breakout from Sona, the treacherous Panamanian penitentiary — and not everyone will get out alive. Plus, the morally compromised Michael crosses a line when he purposely takes someone's life.

"Nobody's indispensable. I wouldn't be surprised if they killed off me or Wentworth or Dominic one day," Nolasco teases. "I open the script every week and wonder whether Sucre's still alive."

Even with a successful escape, Sona will continue to be a key setting, with new inmates calling the lawless fortress home. "Once they break out, there are some main characters left behind in Sona," Purcell says. "There are some pretty big shocks. But the stuff in Sona has been highly entertaining and fun to watch, so [the producers] want to keep that alive."

While Prison Break has mostly avoided romance for two seasons, as clues to Whistler's past come to light, Lincoln and Sofia (Danay Garcia) will be drawn closer — which Purcell hopes might lead to a much-needed release.

"There is the smoldering possibility of Lincoln finally getting laid," he says. "Linc has been in prison and then on the road, and he's not so much as looked at a chick. I've talked to the writers about it, and they say they're gonna get to it."

The season "keeps getting better and better," promises Robert Knepper, whose Machiavellian T-Bag has taken a low-key approach so far this season. That, however, will change as well.

"In the last few moments of the [Feb. 18] episode you'll be saying, 'He's baaack!'" Knepper notes. "It's quite a ride to get there."

The episode, he adds, "has an incredible cliff-hanger. But as much as people say they want to know what happens, they don't really because they want to watch it."

But Nolasco has a more practical reason for keeping mum: "I wish I could tell you about it, but then they would kill me off."

Tonight

Prison Break returns tonight in the US as you all fully well know and here is a new promo (which will most probably get removed in a few hours by the lovely DailyMotion. . .) for tonight's episode. Once again the video has those revolting tags on it, why they insist on doing that over at that website I will never know, but still. Check it out.

New Dominic Purcell Interview

I meant to post this earlier but got sidetracked. Anyway, here is a video from when Dominic Purcell was spending the holidays in France and being interviewed for MSN.fr.

Dom reveals in the interview that if the strike ends as soon as the end of next week (mid January) that the cast and crew would have enough time to film the rest of season 3.

I am very doubtful this could even happen. Season 3 will more than likely finish after only 13 episodes.

Dominic Purcell Dishes on Prison Break's Return and Being a Real-Life Hero

I know I posted the whole 'Dominic saved a child' story the other day but there are some other tidbits in there as well in this new Dominic Purcell interview with Kristin Dos Santos, check it out below:

Dominic Purcell saved a baby’s life.

Wentworth Miller is afraid of something.

We finally have something good again to watch on Monday nights. Boo-yah!

These are the juicy little nuggets I just scored from one Mr. Purcell himself, who rang me up today to chat about the long-awaited return of Fox’s Prison Break this Monday—just in freaking time to help cure January’s strike-induced TV blues.

Dom had just returned from an overseas trip in which, no joke, he and his real-life brother saved a baby's life while in Ireland.

Listen in to what Mr. Purcell says about that, Linc’s love life, the possibility of a spinoff and more…(Then check back in Monday’s chat for more Prison Break scoop!)

Hey! Thanks so much for calling, Dom. How were your holidays?
They were great. I went to Paris to promote Prison Break, went to London and in the meantime, I was saving babies’ lives...

Yeah, what is up with that? What happened?
My brother and I were traveling to the west coast of Ireland to surf, and we saw this lady on the side of the road screaming and freaking out. We pulled over and she was holding her baby, and her baby was blue and not breathing and choking, obviously. And my brother and I did CPR, the whole nine yards, and it survived.

That’s incredible. How do you know CPR?
I’ve got four kids. I’ve got to know that stuff. But what was really bizarre was after we brought the baby back to life we were in some stranger's house on the side of the road where we called the ambulance, and the person in the house wanted my picture and autographs...It was just bizarre. [Laughs] My brother and I are superheroes.

On screen and off, right?! Well, on behalf of all the Prison Break fans, bless you for being on a show that’s coming back on the air. We need something good to watch right now!
I know. It’s pretty bad, right?

Yeah, so what can you tell me about the five new episodes?
Expect a breakout—and you can expect the usual suspects attempting to break out with Michael. A few of them make it, and a few of them are left behind.

I’m hearing Linc might be getting some action?
Well that’s news to me because Lincoln has yet to be laid! There’s a whole lot of jesting going on but no action.

Well I’m hearing that Sofia starts pulling away from Whistler and closer to you…
Yes, that’s true. I definitely think that Linc has a soft spot for Sofia and likewise her…So, we’ll plant a few seeds as to what may happen between the two of them.

Word is you shot scenes on location in Florida, including some underwater stuff in the middle of the ocean. What was that like?
It was awesome. I loved it. And I’m gonna give you a little scoop. [Laughs] Wentworth and Bill Fichtner refused to go out there because they are scared of f--king sharks! But me and Whistler, Chris Vance, the two Australian he-men, decided we could deal with it, so we went out and we were bobbing around in the middle of the Atlantic. It was fun; the water was warm, and apart from the occasional great white that came along, it was good.

You also have a big stunt scene involving a Panamanian bus that Lincoln commandeers…Are you the new Keanu?
I shot that in Dallas. It was a normal, crazy-ass stunt where Lincoln gets hold of a bus and crashes it through a bunch of telephone polls.

There’s a rumor that the American woman who’ll visit Michael this season will be the subject of a spinoff called Cherry Hill…What do you think of that? Is a spinoff a good idea?
It depends who you talk to. If I talk to certain writers on the show, they're like, "No, there’s no such thing." And at one point they were trying to make it happen, but they couldn’t find the girl, so now Fox is done with that idea. So, it’s really up in the air.

Winter Episode Preview

BuddyTV just ran this article about the upcoming episodes. Below is the whole excerpt:

Prison Break fans probably don't need a reminder that their favorite show returns on Monday, January 14. It's been a long few months since the WGA cut off our season, leaving us to wonder what Michael's fate would be as he was removed from Sona prison. When we last left the show, The Company decided to take the escape into their own hands but things went terribly wrong when Michael physically stopped Whistler from getting out of Sona. The Company had no choice but to abort their mission and the police decide that Michael is too much of a hassle to have in their prison any longer. In the upcoming episode, "Boxed In", we find out just what has become of Michael. A new preview for the show's winter episodes give us some more insight into what's coming up and what we can expect!

** WARNING! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! **

We do know that Michael is taken to solitary confinement where he'll have to talk his way out. Sucre continues making deliveries to Sona and is approached by Susan with an offer. T-Bag also makes an offer of his own - to Whistler - and Sofia doesn't like it. Mahone heads back to Sona but before he goes, Agent Lang has a parting gift for him. A new character is introduced, a mysterious American woman, who needs to speak to Michael. This new character is rumored to be the subject of a Prison Break spinoff featuring a women's prison.

The video gives us some juicy information about life in Sona. Bellick finds himself in a fight to the death in the prison yard while Lechero finds himself in the middle of a mutiny. Michael decides to come clean with the new head of Sona and tell him that he's been planning an escape the entire time. It will be interesting to see if that is a smart move or not. Susan uses LJ as a way to motivate Lincoln and lets the father and son reunite for one minute. Michael does make his way back into the prison and picks right up where he left off: trying to break out. He works to dig his way out with Lechero, Whistler, and Mahone.

Due to the ongoing strike, Prison Break has decided to wrap up its season in February. The State of the Union address will pre-empt the January 28th episode. The Prison Break season 3 finale will now air on Monday, February 18th.

Digital Spy's Top 20 TV Series of 2007

UK entertainment website Digital Spy recently chronicled it's top 20 TV series of 2007. Astonishingly, Prison Break (and one of my personal favourite series, Veronica Mars) ranked lower than the likes of The O.C., Supernatural, Dexter, Doctor Who and Heroes!? Here is the list in it's entirety:

#20 Jericho
#19 Secret Diary Of A Call Girl
#18 Smallville
#17 Jekyll
#16 Bones
#15 Veronica Mars
#14 Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
#13 House
#12 Prison Break
#11 Everwood
#10 Life On Mars
#9 The O.C.
#8 Torchwood
#7 Supernatural
#6 Lost
#5 Grey's Anatomy
#4 Skins
#3 Dexter
#2 Doctor Who
#1 Heroes

Below is their short review of season 3:

2007 was a year of extremes for a series renowned for its creativity and innovation. The first half brought the end of season two, which satisfyingly wrapped up the long-term storyline with well-deserved exhoneration for the brothers. But the second half brought season three and its highly-contrived, repetitive and uninspiring premise. In the more recent episodes there was the glimmer of improvement, but is it now too late for this fading cult favourite?

The End's Not Near, It's Here

First off, happy new year one and all! I hope you had a great winter holiday but now lets get down to business! It has been officially confirmed today from FOX that season 3 of Prison Break will only have 13 episodes in total (8 have already aired). This is VERY bad news and could spell the end of Prison Break for good, that is if the story hasn't been wrapped up already (doubtful).

Due to the STATE OF THE UNION address on Monday, Jan. 28, PRISON BREAK will now have its season finale Monday, Feb. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)
